Practice Dates and Club’s Day

August 22nd, 2011

Practice Dates

Our first practice of the year will be on Thursday, September 8th. There will be practice on that Saturday (10th).

Official practice dates and times for the Fall/Winter semester is as follows:

Monday Practice: Sept.12- Dec. 5 from 8:10-10p.m.
Thursday Practice: Sept.15- Dec. 8 from 8:40-11p.m.
Saturday Practice: Sept. 19 – Dec. 10 from 10:10-1p.m.

Clubs Day (also known to older members as S.A.C. Day)
Clubs Day will be taking place on Wednesday, September 7th.

Every year, we set up our booth, display our equipment, and put on demonstrations of our prowess – along with all the other clubs at UofT – in hopes that we can pique the interest of the hoards of incoming freshman dressed in their bright College colors. This year, the race is on again and in order to compete with the TKD club, the Naginata club, the Dragonboat club, the Karate club, etc etc, we need precious precious volunteers to help out.

People are needed at the booth and passing out fliers. It’s easy and a fun way to start off the year. If you have some time to help out, contact me as soon as possible! A shift sheet will be sent out at a later time in which you may choose times most convenient for you.

As for stage demonstrations, I hope the advanced members would please step up – it will only last 10-15 minutes and consist of mainly simple, basic hits. This is one of the most important features that draws in members each year, so please help support the club and volunteer!

Other news
1. Our Summer session ended last week. I’d like to thank all the members who toughed through the extreme heat of our Fencing Salle. It truly has been a battle and, for being able to practice hard in the laziness of summer, good job! We sweat buckets and had fun doing it. I’m looking forward to our Fall/Winter session and I hope you all are as well!

2. The Montreal Taikai will be taking place September 10th, for those who are interested.

3. I will be updating and making adjustments to the site, so please excuse any glitches as they will only be temporary.

Cheers,

Xixi Yi
